Powering the UK from seven strategic sites
Sites with the geology and grid access needed for large-scale hydrogen storage and reliable UK power.
Haldane Energy is developing seven H₂-LDES sites across England and Wales. Locations are chosen for their:
Geology
Proximity to high-quality, large underground salt strata.
Export
Ability to deliver electricity during low renewable generation.
Connectivity
Close to the transmission network and major renewable energy generation.
H₂-LDES is built around the UK’s natural strengths - renewable generation and underground salt formations.

Underground salt caverns can store vast quantities of hydrogen and release it up to 12 times faster than other geological storage options such as depleted gas reservoirs, delivering energy rapidly when required.
